With everything going on in the world today and instant access to “news” (I use that term loosely these days), “What else might be true?” is a question worth asking because we appear to live in a world of many different realities. Truthfully, we do live in a world of many different realities because we have different experiences, backgrounds, locations, cultures, etc. As Anaïs Nin is attributed with saying, “We don’t see things as they are; we see them as we are.”
In other words, what we perceive as “true” is a function of our own perspective, our filter, our lens through which we view and interpret the world aroudn :
- the information that we have access to and are aware of,
- the assumptions we are making and why we are making them,
- the beliefs we have and where they came from, and
- the values we use to filter our choices.
Of course, when we ask “What else might be true?” we might discover what we thought was true is not true or maybe was true but is no longer true now.
In other words, we might be wrong.
Am I OK with that? I hope so.
Kindly,
David
